We have had another busy but full week! We started out our week by reading the story of Elmer – a unique patchwork elephant who learns that it’s okay to be different. We discussed how we are all different from each other, but also the same in many ways. We made our own patchwork elephants too! The students did a great job writing their E’s and 5’s, and I heard a lot of great show-and-tell presentations on Wednesday too! On Thursday we had a special visit from the Memphis Fire Department. The kids loved climbing on the firetruck and meeting some of our local heroes.
In circle time I have also introduced some new classroom mottos: “Stick Together, No Hurts, Have Fun!” When you get a chance, ask your child what they mean. They have special hand motions, too! To encourage more kindness, I have also created a “warm fuzzy” jar. When I catch someone being kind, the class gets a fuzzy in the jar. A full jar = a classroom cupcake party! They are very excited about our goal! Don’t forget – next week is Fall break! |
